Automotive paint manufacturer PPG has created a new generation of eco-friendly paint for the vehicle’s bodywork in collaboration with Ferrari. The idea is already being tested at the supercar factory located in Maranello (Italy).
Its raison d’être is to optimise manufacturing processes, as well as quality for more homogeneous and resistant finishes.
Greater water resistance is being sought, thus facilitating the joint drying of carbon fiber and other new materials present in the bodywork to achieve a more uniform color.
In addition, the new ‘eco-friendly’ paint formulated by PPG incorporates a transparent coat specially designed to dry a vehicle at 100º C. The brand reminds us that, until now, it was being done at 150º C. In this way, the Maranello factory manages to significantly reduce energy consumption.
Finally, the new clear coat includes a hardener that improves the chemical and mechanical resistance of the coating. In other words, it provides a more resistant finish.
Eco-friendly paint has multiple benefits and that is why most large manufacturers use it in all sectors and areas.
