Material Requirements When determining material requirements, allow approximately 10% for waste, etc. Substrate The substrate must be stable, frost-free, dry, clean (wooden boards must be dust-free), free from salt exposure, and sufficiently rough and absorbent. Fill any imperfections. Fix sandy substrates with CLAYTEC clay primer and sealer. Processing Cut the boards with a jigsaw, circular saw, or utility knife. The bottom row of boards should be installed with some spacing to allow for floor ventilation. Mount flat on wood or wood-based material using screws (CLAYTEC clay construction board screws spaced 200 mm apart), but typically use 25 mm brackets, such as Haubold KG 700 series brackets (ETA approved), spaced approximately 150 mm apart, with a 25 mm gap between edges (measured from the center of the bracket). Do not drill holes in the wood boards for screws or brackets.
