Knotted rugs over stone, a cosy fireplace, structured timber ceilings and hand-painted motifs in niches and frames… Crossing the threshold of the Mediterranean Rajasthan House, we enter another world: that of the Berbers, a people native to North Africa, in perfect harmony with nature.
The interior, however, is not rough: natural materials such as clay, earthy colours, enveloping aromas and soft lighting create a space that calms body and mind, preparing you to live the Ayurveda experience. This space is part of Mediterana, a day spa of more than 52,000 m² in Bergisch Gladbach (Germany), with a unique concept: 15 themed saunas and steam baths inspired by Indian and Spanish culture, built with authentic materials brought from Morocco, Tunisia or India. Each room combines aromas, textures and architectural details to transport its visitors somewhere else.

The heart of the comfort lies in the walls: plastered with ClayTec clay, they recreate the climate of the old Berber houses. This natural material interacts with heat and humidity in a unique way, maintaining a constant temperature and a healthy environment. In addition, heating is provided by two gas stoves, more efficient and environmentally friendly than the usual electric systems.
In its construction (2009) and renovation (2014), only natural materials were used, seeking authenticity and wellbeing:
Clay regulates the temperature and prevents excessive dryness, providing a pleasant sensation and saving energy thanks to its high heat-storage capacity.
