Straw clay mortar, used in single or multi-layers, is a classic solution that has been the preferred choice for thick-layer applications for over 30 years. It is particularly effective on uneven surfaces, in surface heating systems or in monument restoration work. In a single application, up to 35 mm thick can be applied.
This material stands out for its ease of handling and vertical adhesion, as well as being ideal for filling cracks and other imperfections. As the fundamental basis for all ClayTec clay finishing mortars, both coarse and fine, straw clay mortar is essential for a wide variety of projects. Its wet mortar stands out for its high resource efficiency, while the dry mortar, with an unlimited service life, can also be applied using mortar spraying machines.

APPLICATION: The mortar is applied with the trowel, spread or sprayed with the mortar spraying machine. The minimum and maximum application thickness is usually 8 and 15 mm, depending on the surface, with up to 35 mm being possible. In concrete or masonry only 10 mm, in extruded clay block masonry only 6 mm per layer. The consistency of the mortar must be adapted to the thickness of the layer. The application of YOSIMA clay design plasters requires a well-sanded and flat surface (special additional work step) or a thin layer of fine clay finishing plaster 06
PERFORMANCE: Dry 10,110 in 25 kg bags (equivalent to 16.7 l of mortar, 1.1 m² surface area with D = 1.5 cm. Approx. 1.50 kg/m² per mm thickness), 48 bags/pallet
DRYING TIME: After application, quick drying should be ensured, e.g. by cross ventilation (all windows and doors open 24 hours a day). Under critical conditions, drying must be recorded in accordance with DIN 18550-2; for more details, please refer to this standard or the ClayTec "Clay Plaster Worksheet". We will be happy to provide you with additional information. The basic microbiological load of natural moisture products 05.001 and 05.201 is subject to constant monitoring; compliance with certain values cannot be guaranteed.
WORKING SAMPLE: The suitability of the substrate and the thickness of the layer must be checked in all cases by means of a sufficiently large working sample.

STORAGE: Store in a dry place. Wet clay-based mortar should be used no later than 3 months after manufacture; Dry material can be stored indefinitely. Wet material should be stored in winter protected from frost, otherwise its processability is affected during frost.
COMPOSITION: natural construction clay up to 5 mm, washed mixed grain sand 0-2 mm. Grain group, upper grain size according to DIN 0/4, < 8 mm. Barley straw fibres up to 30 mm.
